Frequently asked questions
How does it handle overnight shifts?
If the end time is earlier than the start time, it assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds 24 hours, so a 10pm–6am shift correctly reads 8 hours.
What is decimal hours?
Payroll systems use decimal — 8 hours 30 minutes is 8.5 decimal hours (minutes ÷ 60). The tool shows both.
Does it round?
No — it gives the exact total. If your employer rounds to the nearest quarter hour, apply that to the final number.
