About the Markup Calculator

Calculate markup free — enter your cost and a markup percentage to get the selling price and profit per unit ($50 cost at 60% markup = $80 price, $30 profit). It's the standard cost-plus pricing method for retail, wholesale, restaurants, and services. Remember markup ≠ margin: that same sale is a 60% markup but only a 37.5% margin — this tool keeps the two straight.

How to use the Markup Calculator

  1. 1Enter your cost and markup percentage.
  2. 2Read the result instantly — it recalculates as you type.
  3. 3Adjust the numbers to model different scenarios.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between markup and margin?

Markup is profit as a percentage of cost; margin is profit as a percentage of the selling price. The same profit gives a higher markup % than margin %.

How do I set a selling price from cost?

Multiply the cost by 1 plus the markup percentage. For example, $50 cost with 60% markup = $50 × 1.6 = $80.

What is keystone pricing?

A 100% markup — selling at double the cost. It's the traditional default in retail, though competitive categories often run tighter.
